A conversation I had with Becky last night:
"You are a Genius!"
"Why is that honey?"
"You're a Genius because you are my Mommy, that's why!"
"I'm glad we agree! ;)"
"Except when you spank me, then you're not a genius, because I don't like when you spank me."
Becky's new nickname for me:
Genius Mommy

Missing Guatemala
Today a week and a half after our home coming, the girls were playing as if they were flying in an airplane. Emma asked Becky where they were going and Becky said: "Guatemala!!!"
Becky's first stateside bathroom experience:
"Oh no, oh no," she cried from inside the bathroom stall.
"What is it honey?"
"Where do I put this?!" (referring to the toilet paper since she couldn't find a waste basket)
"Remember, we can put the toilet paper in the toilet here."
"Ohhhhh! Thank you mommy!"
We got home on Monday night. On Tuesday night when we were tucking Becky in she asked, "Can we go on the airplane again tomorrow to see Paela in Guatemala?"
Grandma asked Becky how you say frog in Spanish. "Frogicita," was her response! LOL

Things that are "important"
Upon reminding Becky that our vacation will soon end, she exlaimed "Oh, so then I'll be able to throw the toilet paper in the toilet?" (In Guatemala the sewer system isn't able to decompose toilet paper- so we have to dispose of it in the garbage can.)
I guess I didn't realize that that was so important to her! LOL

Lack of communication
So Becky got a present from her papa, on Christmas morning. A flute/recorder--- after initial delight, she looks up at me and asks "Am I 8 years old today?"
"No honey, you're still 4 1/2" I replied.
"Oh, but am I 8 today I said?!" she exclaimed.
"Listen sweetie, I know that I told you that you wouldn't be able to have a flute until you were 8, but I guess papa decided to get you one before then."
"OHHH, so I'm 4 today AND I get a flute! Thank you mommy!"
"Well, thank your papa---"

In Guatemala
When we arrived in Guatemala and Becky saw her Grandma for the first time in 2 years she said, "Paela (Spanish nickname for Grandma), you look like Paela, It's really you Paela!!" This was followed by hugs and kisses :)
Upon arriving to Roberto's parents house Becky went through the house exclaiming--- "Where are your children? Where are they? I want to play with them!" We realized she was reffering to her cousins who were there with her last time we were here.

We don't use the "W" word in our house.
So, ever since Roberto and I met and married there's been a constant battle about where to shop. I know that Target is a great store and will rarely let me down, especially since my brother has been working at Target headquarters for 10+ years. Roberto still hasn't been saved from the "dark side" ;) He likes to talk about the great deals and cheap things at the other store and I always insist that I like the quality at Target and the service.
Becky has gotten in on many of these conversations and the other day made her own deduction as we were driving up to Walmart: "Oh! Is this Lazytown??" (From the tv series where the bad guy wants to lay around and eat candy all day, and the hero teaches the kids to turn off the video games and play sports and eat fruits and veggies.) I believe that Becky is very perceptive. :)

Spanglish
We hired a friend from Mexico to rake our leaves this weekend. He knocked on the door to get more coffee and Becky asks "Who is it?"
"It's Mr. Gato" (the name of our friend) I told her.
"I want to see Mr. Guapo!" Becky exclaimed. (Guapo means handsome!)
I started laughing and tried to correct her, but our friend was so delighted that he told her, "You can call me Mr. Guapo whenever you want!"
